Spotlight on Autobooks
Detroit-based tech startup, Autobooks, began with the notion of helping some businesses bank better. Their commitment to helping small businesses grow continues during the coronavirus pandemic, offering small business owners a free, simplified version of their digital platform through the end of the year.
The company is best known for simplified, fully integrated accounting solutions and has a longstanding relationship with Microsoft as their financial services partner, but COVID-19 presented the immediate need for businesses lacking the infrastructure to get paid during the crisis. In combination with Microsoft Azure, Autobooks can provide complete resources to alleviate economic pressure companies are facing.
“A lot of our clients tend to wear a lot of hats. They don’t have a CFO or a controller,” said Steve Robert, founder and CEO of Autobooks.
In response to COVID-19, Autobooks added a donate button to its payments software stack, allowing users an easy interface to donate directly to an organization. Their most recent initiative, “Get Paid with Autobooks,” delivers a new solution that enables nonprofits and small businesses to enroll directly with Autobooks to receive card and ACH payments online and have those payments deposited directly into their existing account at their financial institution. By partnering with financial institutions, Autobooks provides the technology solution other institutions can’t provide to their customers. And for now, the company has pledged to waive any fees associated with the transactions.
In recent years, the fintech industry has exploded, disrupting traditional financial services, but Autobooks embraces the idea of working in partnership with other financial institutions. Core to their business, is creating solutions that do more together than independently—a mentality that is ever-more needed today.
