Spotlight on Keurig Dr Pepper

While few would categorize coffee and soft drinks as health foods, they provide vital comfort and emotional sustenance every day for millions. In the words of the Keurig Dr Pepper website, the 125 hot and cold beverages that make up the KDP brand portfolio “are designed to satisfy virtually any consumer need, any time…. Our brands…have become an essential part of [consumers’] daily lives.” With iconic names such as Snapple, Mott’s and, of course, Dr Pepper, that’s no idle boast.

Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, KDP, like other companies, has been there for hospitals and other healthcare facilities in a big way, with generous donations of money and PPE. In particular, a $250,000 grant to the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation Employee Relief Fund provides aid to restaurant workers financially impacted by the COVID- 19 crisis.

But KDP’s most personal act of caring may well be its Fueling the Frontline program, which has delivered Keurig brand brewers, coffee and other beverages to over 350 hospitals and thousands of break rooms in the company’s Boston and Dallas headquarters markets and hard-hit communities across the country and to other hospitals where the need is great. The company has also gifted brewers to its own frontline workers and provided its office staff a brewer to donate to a KDP frontline worker of their choosing.

To date, the company has served more than two million cups of coffee and other beverages to healthcare workers from coast to coast. In April, a specially fitted mobile truck toured hospitals in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, giving hospital workers and local first responders a rare moment to enjoy a cup of coffee—or other beverage—and refuel body and spirit before getting back to the difficult and life-giving work they do.

About Brand Acts of Kindness®

Brand Acts of Kindness® is a series from Carpenter Group that spotlights companies across industries that are living their brand values in addressing the unprecedented challenges facing the world today.

The series initially headlined companies assisting healthcare workers and first responders, as well as communities, businesses and families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
